Central Place (JBG Smith)

Central Place Office is located half a block from the Rosslyn Metro Station and is the tallest building in the DC metro area. Central Place is one of several Champions managed by JBG Smith and home to the regions first observation deck. Tenants at Central Place can take advantage of several building amenities such as a secure bike room with showers, lockers, and a self-serve bike tune-up area. Central Place also offers designated carpool and vanpool parking as well as a real-time transit display in the lobby. Since partnering with Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP), management has frequently hosted lobby events inviting ATP to meet new tenants and discuss current transportation programs. Central Place management team was quoted as saying, “Commuting to and from work plays an important role in our tenant’s quality of life, and Arlington Transportation Partners works with us to prioritize and simplify that task.” As a result of this, Central Place has already purchased over 1,000 pre-loaded SmarTrip cards in 2018 for new tenant employees with plans to host more.

3001 & 3003 Washington Boulevard (Transwestern)

Penzance developed these two trophy-class office buildings in Arlington’s dynamic Clarendon neighborhood. The development is just one block from the Metro station and is surrounded by dining and shopping amenities. The properties offer flexible space planning opportunities and a sustainable environment. GHT provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design for both buildings.

The 10-story 3001 Washington Boulevard achieved a certification level of Gold under the LEED for Core & Shell™ rating system, and offers 20,000 SF floor plates, 14,000 SF of retail, a rooftop terrace, and fitness center. 3003 Washington Boulevard features seven stories with floor plates ranging from 10,000 – 13,000 SF and a prominent corner location to support high profile signage.

675 North Randolph (Kodiak Realty Services)

Completed in 2012, 675 North Randolph was developed as part of The Shooshan Company’s Founders Square project in Ballston’s core commercial area. The 13-story office building consists of 355,000 square feet and was designated as a LEED Gold building. Managed by Kodiak Realty Services, the building provides secure bike parking for employees, plus free access to showers and lockers. There is also designated and discounted parking in the garage for carpools as well as free parking for vanpools. Building employees are also provided with transportation information when they first start, and have access to free brochures and transportation maps in the lobby.

800 North Glebe Road (JBG Smith

With its innovative design and expansive retail offerings, 800 North Glebe Road places, a bold exclamation point on the Rosslyn/Ballston corridor.

The building is distinguished by a sweeping glass curtain wall, jewel-box style lobby with 25′ ceilings, stone and glass finishes, 9′ ceiling heights and 25,000 square feet of on-site retail, including Robert Wiedmaier’s Mussel Bar. It offers over 275,000 square feet of prime trophy-class office space whose sustainable values and extraordinary access enhance your efficiency, productivity and overall image.

801 North Quincy (Lincoln Property Company)

801 North Quincy is located two and half blocks from the Ballston Metro Station and is one of several Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP) Champions managed by Lincoln Property Company. Tenants at 801 North Quincy can take advantage of several building amenities such as a secure bike room with showers and lockers as well as designated carpool and vanpool parking. Management hosts quarterly tenant roundtables, inviting ATP to meet new tenants and discuss current transportation programs and commute options. ATP has also hosted events, providing tenants with information about transportation and various initiatives.

1000 North Glebe Road - Blue Goose

Opened in August 2017 with the launch of the new academic year, the complex includes a nine-story academic/office building and twelve-story residential/retail building, each with underground parking. The complex is anchored by a public plaza and green space courtyard.

1310 North Courthouse Road (MRP Realty)

An 11-story, 380,000 square foot tower centrally located within the Courthouse area of Arlington, 1310 North Courthouse Road has undergone a comprehensive series of capital improvements, including renovations to the lobby and public spaces. Managed by MRP Realty, the property is located one block from the Courthouse Metro Station and was designated as a LEED Gold property and achieved Energy Star designation, with several points earned from alternative transportation strategies.

The building features a lobby digital display with real-time transportation info to provide tenants with up-to-date commuting information. Management also sends out frequent communications regarding transportation options and events to promote sustainable commuting among tenants.

1400 Crystal Drive (Lincoln Property Company)

1400 Crystal Drive is a state-of- the-art, Class A office building located in a prime location in Crystal City,
Virginia. With 308,898 SF, this modern office building has 14 floors and floor-toceiling windows, providing magnificent corner office opportunities with abundant natural light.
Sitting on Crystal City’s main thoroughfare, Crystal Drive, the building has fantastic views of the

1530 Wilson Boulevard (Lincoln Property Company)

2311 Wilson Boulevard ( Carr Properties)

One Liberty Center (Kodiak Realty Services)

Located two blocks from the Ballston Metro, One Liberty Center is part of the larger Liberty Center development comprised of over 2.25 million square feet of mixed use space, including office, hotel, and residential buildings. Management also provides all new tenants with a copy of Arlington Transportation Partners (ATP) Relocation Services Guide, to make office relocations run smoothly while considering the changes to tenants’ commutes. ATP has also hosted events, providing tenants with information about transportation and various initiatives, and plans to host bike tune-up events.

Potomac Tower (Brookfield Properties)

Potomac Tower is a 240,000 Sq Ft trophy office tower located in Arlington, Virginia with magnificent, unobstructed views of the Washington, DC skyline, the Potomac River, Georgetown University and the Kennedy Center.

Shirlington Tower (Moore & Associates)

Shirlington Tower is an eight-story property located in the Village at Shirlington featuring over 233,446 square feet of Class A office space. Managed by Moore & Associates, the building is well served by transportation options despite the lack of a nearby Metro station. Shirlington Tower is located across the street from the Shirlington Bus Station and Shirlington Commuter Store where eight bus routes stop at the station serving destinations such as Ballston, Clarendon, Pentagon, and Crystal City. In addition, a 15-dock Capital Bikeshare station is located directly in front of the property, with easy access to the Four Mile Run trail two blocks away.

Waterview (JLL)

Waterview is a 24-story, Class A commercial property featuring over 620,000 square feet of office space in the heart of Rosslyn. The building is part of a larger mixed-use development featuring a 154-room hotel as well as 133 condominium residences. Waterview is surrounded by numerous transportation options—it’s located two blocks from the Rosslyn Metro and bus stops, one block from the DC Circulator stop, and is directly across the street from a 27-dock Capital Bikeshare station. The Custis and Mount Vernon shared-use trails are also just a block away, providing easy access for bike commuters.

The building itself has a secure, controlled access bicycle storage room, as well as shower facilities and a fitness center. In addition, preferential and discounted parking spaces are available for carpools and vanpools in the garage. With nearly 6,000 employees commuting to and from the building each day, Waterview has made the effort to implement commuting programs and reduce the site’s impact on the local transportation system.

950 North Glebe (JBG Smith)

950 North Glebe, a LEED Gold certified office property, consists of twelve stories of office and retail space comprising of approximately 247,436 rentable square feet. Managed by JBG Commercial Management, and located two blocks from the Ballston Metro Station, the property features discounted carpool and vanpool parking, a secure bike cage and showers for bike commuters, and promotes regular events for tenants such as Earth Day and National Walking Day. In 2015, the building also held a joint bike tune up event with Revolution Cycles for tenants in both 950 North Glebe and 800 North Glebe.

Crystal Plazas - 2001 Richmond Highway (JBG Smith)

2020 Champions Criteria


After completing BRONZE, SILVER, and GOLD Levels, complete three additional actions:

  • Provide or subsidize shuttle service or current transit route
  • Install a non-mandated transportation display and/or real-time digital screen.
  • Install non-mandated free, covered, and secure bike parking (CLass I)
  • Complete follow-up actions identified from transportation survey results and goals
  • Complete a comprehensive, research-based case study
  • Sponsor an ATP event
  • Offer ridehailing subsidy to tenants using geo-fenced parameters (carpool rides only)
  • Host a free tenant bike tune-up event
  • Refer a new property to Champions and receive credit after their enrollment meeting
  • Offer a direct or combination transportation benefit
  • Achieve or maintain a Bicycle Friendly Business designation
  • Complete four additional Gold or Silver Level items (at least two must be Gold Level)

Champions 2020 activities must be completed by November 30, 2020.

After completing BRONZE and SILVER Levels, complete three actions:
*Site plan properties must be in compliance with County requirements to achieve Gold Level or higher.

  • Conduct an employee commute and benefits survey, discuss recommendations
  • Host a custom event with ATP
  • Provide free, pre-loaded SmarTrip cards to employees
  • Offer a pre-tax transportation benefit
  • Offer Capital Bikeshare bulk passes and/or annual memberships to building staff and/or tenants
  • Introduce at least one building tenant to ATP for a Champions introductory meeting
  • Introduce ATP to a regional contact and receive credit after the meeting
  • Offer new on-site carsharing spaces
  • Offer non-mandated preferential or discounted parking for carpools and vanpools, promote program to tenants
  • Provide free, non-mandated, covered bike parking (Class II)
  • Provide e-scooter charging and docking stations on-site
  • Additional unique program as identified with ATP representative

After completing BRONZE Level, complete three actions:

  • Participate in or promote an ATP event:
    • National Walking Day
    • Bike to Work Day
    • Our Shared Street Pop-Up
    • Car Free Day
    • Other ATP community events
  • Invite ATP to a wellness or benefits fair
  • Include information on Relocation Services in leasing materials and tenant onboarding programs.
  • Achieve Best Workplaces for Commuters designation
  • Complete PTC training with ATP for a new property employees
  • Promote bike commuting at property through distribution of information about bike parking, showers, and lockers
  • Establish property management contact for multiple properties
  • Host a meeting with an ATP partner to identify opportunities
  • Participate in one ATP program:
    • Networking Event or webinar
    • Feedback survey
    • Qualifying research opportunity
  • Provide and promote mandated transportation facilities and programs at the property

Complete these actions:

  • Host an enrollment and a follow-up Champions meeting
  • Establish a Property Transportation Coordinator (PTC) for the building
  • Distribute transportation packets
  • Promote at least two transportation options or programs:
    • BikeArlington/WalkArlington
    • Capital Bikeshare
    • Carsharing/Ridesharing
    • Public transportation
    • Vanpool Connect
